Agricultural Programs Manager
Title: Agricultural Programs Manager
Start Date: Spring 2022 (March start date preferred)
Salary: $50,000 - $52,000 annual full-time salary with benefits including employer paid health insurance, paid holidays and time off, $100/month phone stipend, professional development opportunities and flexible work arrangements (including option of partial remote work).
Reports to: Executive Director (in collaboration with Lake County partners)
Purpose: Design and implement collaborative conservation-agriculture programs and manage Lake County Conservation District (LCCD) community outreach efforts
About us:
Central Colorado Conservancy (Conservancy) is an accredited land trust and community-based conservation organization based in Salida, CO and working throughout the Upper Arkansas Headwaters region (this position will focus on work in Lake County, CO). Our mission is to protect the land, waters and quality of life of Central Colorado as we face pressure and rapid growth. Since 2001, the Conservancy has protected over 5000 acres of private lands through easements and acquisitions in our six-county service area (Chaffee, Lake, Park, Fremont, Saguache, Gunnison counties). The Conservancy also leads large-landscape watershed restoration work with partners in key landscapes (e.g. Upper Badger Creek Watershed, Park County, CO); delivers short-term protection of working lands through conservation contracts and funded by local government (Chaffee Common Ground); and serves in growing leadership capacities in partnership with the Upper Arkansas Conservation District (UACD) and LCCD who provide technical and educational assistance to agriculture producers and landowners in the region. We envision a future for Central Colorado that is supported by thriving communities and that have safeguarded their rural character, lands, waters and wildlife for future generations.
This position is supported by a growing partnership among the Conservancy, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), LCCD and Lake County Government and is currently funded through 2026 (with opportunity to extend for additional years based on performance and community need).
About the Position:
The Agricultural Programs Manager (Lake County) is a full-time, exempt position (40 hrs/week) with a key role in providing technical assistance and focused conservation outreach programs to private landowners and agricultural producers in Lake County, CO. This an excellent opportunity for those who wish to take the lead role in enhancing the Conservancy’s land conservation partnership in the region, with a focus on developing local capacity within LCCD to deliver timely conservation programs to agricultural producers and landowners in the upper Arkansas Headwaters landscape. While supervised by the Conservancy, the Agricultural Programs Manager will work closely with LCCD and other Lake County partners to prioritize work and deliver on shared conservation objectives. The Conservancy is a dynamic and growing organization, and we are looking for a new member for our team who is excited about leading our conservation programs in Lake County.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Design and implement conservation-agriculture programs on private lands, including those that address recreation impacts.
· Design and lead collaborative soil, water and resource planning efforts in key landscapes, with a focus on agricultural perspectives.
· Manage and co-lead LCCD reviews of Lake County land development and resource plans and referrals, and draft formal comments for submission to the County and other appropriate planning commissions.
· In collaboration with the Executive Director (ED), LCCD Board, and NRCS counterparts, manage all LCCD community education, outreach and technical assistance programs.
Other Duties:
· Assist and support ED with development of the Conservancy’s conservation agriculture program in Lake County (e.g. grant writing, partnership development, community outreach).
· Cultivate positive relationships with landowners, agency partners, non-governmental organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
· Represent the Conservancy and LCCD professionally at public events, including presentations at conferences and community workshops.
· Collaborate with partner organizations, funders, contractors and colleagues to assure project completion.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
· Demonstrated experience (4+ years) in a conservation or agriculture field, with progressive experience in developing conservation programs, managing projects, community outreach and fundraising. Includes any combination of work, volunteer and/or academic experiences.
· Resident of Lake County preferred (remote work accommodated with frequent travel to Lake County expected on a regular basis).
· Proven experience working with people in rural and agricultural communities.
· Exposure to private lands conservation issues in the West.
· Experience or strong interest in working with a team that has successfully secured grants, with the ability to think long-term and innovatively about new and emerging funding sources.
· Strong communication skills both written and verbal, along with excellent mediation and counseling skills.
· Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
· Spanish language proficiency is highly desired.
· Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
· Willingness to travel locally and regionally.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The Communications and Development Coordinator is a full-time (32-40 hrs/week) staff position with a key role in ensuring the success of strategic communications and development initiatives that support the long-term sustainability of the organization and its mission-driven conservation work. This is an excellent opportunity to use a diversity of skills to fundraise and connect with our donor base and larger community to ensure meaningful engagement and giving. This dynamic role is part of a small and friendly team but is also required to be self-motivated and highly organized. Competitive candidates are as comfortable speaking with donors as they are working in spreadsheets and handling complex logistics—and can quickly switch between these tasks. Maintain donor/volunteer database (Bloomerang) and donor relationships to support unrestricted fundraising including database administration, record management, gift acknowledgements and new donor/volunteer onboarding
Coordinate the planning for fundraising events and community engagement opportunities including sponsorships, venues, volunteer management and advertising
Oversee the Hands 4 Lands volunteer program including communications and logistics
Assist Manager with external outreach and communications including regular newsletters, direct mail marketing, website content, social media, general email inquiries and annual impact reports
Other Duties:
Facilitate internal communications for all-staff functions and implement internal information gathering and organizing processes including digitizing records and maintaining cloud-based storage platforms
Cultivate positive relationships with landowners, agency partners, members/donors, community members, non-governmental organizations and other relevant stakeholders
Represent the Conservancy professionally at public events, including presentations at conferences and community workshops, as appropriate

2+ years of experience in communications and/or development, with knowledge of CRM/database management skills, donor cultivation, event coordination and/or web design

Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Drive
