Help us Protect Williams Ranch!

Central Colorado Conservancy is working with the Williams family to place a permanent conservation easement on their 37-acre property, one of the last undeveloped and agriculturally productive parcels within Salida city limits. Thanks to Chaffee Common Ground, and with City of Salida support, we’ve secured most of the required funding for up-front costs - but we need your help to secure the rest.  

Two neighboring landowners have pledged $7,500 to help us raise the $30,000 needed to ensure that Williams Ranch can continue to graze cattle, provide a haven for wildlife, and offer residents the most expansive mountain views in Salida.

 

If these things are important to you, no donation is too small to help steward this special place as it is today - a working ranch and open space now and for the future.

 

Williams Ranch, where natural seepage supports hay crops as well as some very happy heifers, also provides refuge for wildlife, including migratory birds, deer, and bear. A small natural pond allows cottonwood trees to nurture habitat and cover for wildlife species in an increasingly developed area.

The adjacent Monarch Spur trail, which boasts 71,000 user-days annually, provides a safe and easy route for residents of all ages to recreate and commute for school and work; keeping William Ranch in agricultural production preserves our stunning mountain vistas – as well as a views up-close of a working ranch - for users in both directions, and along Holman Avenue.
